Unless you have been living under a rock for the last 12 months, then you will have probably heard of AMC’s hit television series *The Night Manager* and its star studded cast, which included the likes of *Tom Hiddleston* and *Hugh Laurie*. Having dominated at the Golden Globes and the Emmys, it proved to be an immensely popular adaptation of the British Author, John le Carré’s best-selling novel, which was set after the cold war and details an undercover operation to bring a notorious arms dealer to justice.
If you were one of the millions of viewers to be gripped by the enthralling espionage thriller to hit our screens in 2016, then you would have seen many locations on *the beautiful island of Mallorca*. One of the main locations used during filming of this series was our luxurious Son Julia Country House & Spa. A number of days were spent filming here and eagle eyed viewers may be able to recognise our charming hotel in a number of scenes. Now with many of us eagerly anticipating the return of our favourite characters with a Series Two, our thoughts turn to some of the other breath-taking locations to be considered for the next riveting series of *The Night Manager*.
Producers searching for stunning locations for the potential second series should consider *Es Trenc*. This isolated beach located on the Southern tip of the island is Mallorca’s answer to the Caribbean with some of the purest sand, stretching for approximately 2km along the coast. The mixture of the sumptuous surroundings and the turquoise water lapping at the shoreline make this a perfect backdrop for either a holiday visit or a Hollywood scene.
Cap de Formentor
Though reaching this wild peninsula on the Northern edge of the island isn’t for the faint hearted, the 400 metre high cliffs that jut into the sea provide some seriously dramatic views and are the perfect place for any climactic scene. This area is dotted with tempting viewpoints so you can stop to enjoy the amazing views out over the Mediterranean and you may even see *Menorca* on clear days. A camera may not do it justice though, so a visit in person is recommended.
Located not far from our boutique hotel Son Julia in Llucmajor you can find a gothic style castle located on a hill approximately 3km West of *Palma*. This beautiful castle constructed in the 1300s is one of the few circular shaped castles in Europe. It has since been used for many different purposes from a residence to a prison. This Castle turned museum is one location not to be missed with its beautiful design and breath-taking views out over the island.
Isla de Cabrera
This uninhabited islet off the southern tip of *Mallorca* is the largest of a small archipelago. You’ll arrive by boat to this scenic island like one of John le Carré’s protagonists and be awestruck by its beauty. Once there, it is like taking a step back in time and with so few shops or people to distract, you are encouraged to take advantage of the hiking trails or scuba in one of the best-conserved seabeds off the Spanish coastline.
With our appetites wet once more at the thought of *The Night Manager* we can only hope that the potential of a second series becomes a reality and that *the island of Mallorca* not only steals most of the limelight, but leaves its own special stamp once more to create another viewing success.
